Conclusion

Allen Ginsberg is quite and inspiration, he has so many works that make him a great post-modern poet. I think that he lead a great life and didn’t take life for granted. Even though I feel like after ready a few of his works that he was lonely at times in his life. With everything that happened in his personal life he had plenty to write about. But he was trying to make America a better place by sharing his thoughts and ideas.

In “Howl” Ginsberg talks a lot about America and the culture that we have. He writes out that the culture and values have shaped America to be lost and reckless. In “A Supermarket in California” he also talks about the loss he feels to America. Ginsberg feels like everything is picture perfect for example “blue automobiles in driveways” “whole families shopping together” I think Ginsberg himself felt like he was a banded by his family and America. He didn’t feel like America was a free as they said it was.

Ginsberg mentions sexuality is both these poem. In “Howl” he really tells the reads how it was for him and his friends to have homosexual relations and even though in “A Supermarket in California” the speaker is gay (so I believe) he feels left out and alone because of his sexual identity.

He never thought that his kind of people felt accepted that everyone including the government was trying to hunt them down and make up accuses to arrest them or put them in institutions for there “madness.”
